We provide Information, Advice and Guidance on all aspects of sight loss for all ages including:

Magnification and Lighting Daily Living Equipment New Technology – including smart phones / tablet familiarisation Peer Support – meeting with others to share experiences of living with sight loss Benefit Advice Eye Clinic Liaison Officer based at Southend Hospital Eye Clinic

We stock a variety of Low Vision Equipment to try before you buy including: ?talking? and ?easy to see? products, lighting, magnification, kitchen aids, anti-glare glasses, indoor games and puzzles.

Our Tech team offers advise on specialist apps, computer programmes, tablets and mobiles phones and can provide individual technology guidance sessions.

If you would like help setting up your smartphone or tablet, or impartial advice on what technology is best for you, please call our Centre to book an appointment on 01702 342131. It is advisable to phone in advance to discuss your requirements, so that we can ensure we have the right person and time available to help on the day of your appointment.

EQUIPMENT LOAN SCHEME AND SECOND HAND EQUIPMENT

The scheme enables you to try larger pieces of equipment in your home, so you can be sure it is the most appropriate for you before purchasing your own. The service is free of charge but in order to be considered for the scheme, we ask that you call us for full details and book an appointment to visit the Centre to try the equipment we have available first. Please call on 01702 342131. Please note this scheme relies on donated equipment from our members who no longer require it, so we are unable to guarantee what is available at any time. We also have some small second-hand items for sale in our Centre which can include: hand held magnifiers, talking clocks and big button landline phones.
