Mental Health Support and Wellbeing Services

We are your local mental health charity. At Mid and North East Essex Mind we believe no one should have to face a mental health problem alone. We?re here for you. Today. Now. whether you?re stressed, depressed or in crisis. We are an independent charity with Registered Charity Number 1064309 and part of a network of 130 local Mind?s affiliated with the national charity Mind.

We believe no one should have to face a mental health problem alone. That?s why we are here for you. Whether you?re stressed, depressed or in crisis, we?ll listen, give you support and advice and we?ll push for a better deal and respect for everyone experiencing a mental health problem.

We work with children from the age of 5 and adults of all ages. Some people use our services for only a little while and others might need help for longer.

Our work takes place across the Braintree, Chelmsford, Colchester, Maldon and Tendring districts. Because we are local, we understand our community, therefore our services fit what people need most.

Our Services
We have two counselling services: a free counselling service, open to adults experiencing mild to moderate mental health problems. We specialise in Counselling for Depression in individuals and couples, but also offer Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy and Psychosexual Counselling.

Our second counselling service is an affordable private service. Sessions are available to children from the age of 5 and adults of all ages. Within the children?s service we offer art, play or talking therapies depending on the child?s age and preference. For adults we have a range of talking therapies available which mirror those available in the free service. Our counsellors in both services a qualified at least to Diploma level and registered with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

Futures in Mind is open to people experiencing mental health problems and/ or drug or alcohol misuse. The service primary offers a series of peer support groups, called Welcome Café?s, these are open in the larger towns across the area, some are more specialist including a young person?s café (for people aged 18-30), an Asperger?s café, art cafes and a group for parents experiencing mental health problems. Alongside these are activity groups such as football, gardening and pottery. The service also offers befriending and mentoring service and is free to service users

Our Support, Time and Recovery Team offer free practical support on issues such as housing, job seeking, employment support and help with benefits and financing. The team work in the community and are flexible around the needs of clients.

The Mid Essex Sanctuary provides a safe and supportive space for people experiencing a mental health crisis. The Sanctuary is open to the residents of Mid Essex every evening between 6pm ' 1am. Access to support is by referral pathway via NHS 111 (Option 2).
