JSR CIC are a group of people who want to help people in Jaywick

JSR CIC is a community run company non profitable, dedicated to supporting local people to make our small Village a better place to live and work. We aim to represent all parts of the community and are open to membership from everyone who lives, works or has a close association with Jaywick Sands.

Registered with Companies house as a CIC in April 2018 there are currently 6 Directors on the Board. All are residents from a range of backgrounds who bring a diverse set of skills and experiences. All volunteer their time and support. All share a vision for Jaywick Sands and a commitment to dispel the myths about our beautiful resort. We believe that communities who speak with one common voice get heard and can be more effective influencing change and bringing about improvements to make a real difference for all.

We have been working with DERiC (Developing and Empowering Resources in Communities) who were asked to get involved by the Coastal Communities Team (CCT) for Jaywick Sands. Following extensive consultation with local people it was identified that while there is potential to improve on the wide range of things happening already the community still faces many challenges.

In the first instance it was identified that a community hub be established to be a base bringing people together in order to tackle the many issues that need addressing. A place where all are welcome, a Centre for Information, support and guidance. A friendly place for all ages to go, hosting various events, groups and classes or simply somewhere to go for a chat. So JSR CIC opened in June 2019 on the Jaywick Sands high street and has been very successful in pulling the community to us to get help. We now provide a platform for speakers from a broad range of places such as Tendring Council, Essex County Council, various other organisations as well such as Active Essex and The Baby Bank Tendring who offer bother their services and time to us.

Our JSR CIC hub are open everyday and we are here for the community in any way we can be. We aide in helping them access services that they need but don't know how to access. We offer a safe environment for people to air their issues and help them resolve it if we can. We help with form filling and CV writing, but also offer use of any equipment within our JSR CIC hub that the Jaywick Sands community may need such as computers, printers and scanners.

We also organize and run events within the community such as fundraisers for local causes, we run bingo nights, a children's Christmas grotto, Valentines dances and much more.
